We want to change the imap sll port of exchange 2000 sp3 to listen to a
different port, lets say 81 or 8080.
Is this possible ? is it a good practice to do that ? is it more safe ? do
you still have secure connection os its obligatory to use the 993 .

I know that clients should change the default imap4 ssl port but is this
physible ?

thank you

It is possible certainly. All you need to do is to change the
configuration on the client to address the new port and change the
configuration in Exchange to listen on the different port.
There's probably not a lot of point moving 993 to anywhere else since
anyone looking could see that it had been moved and you'd have gained
very little.

Yes i undertand that, but what if an IP has blocked 993 letsay and they have
open 81 so i move the imap ssl to 81 in order for my clients to access their
mail.

Is it worth doing it ? do i loose in security ? do i loose in anything ?

thanks!

You can do that without problems or additional risks.
